The department of Mechanical Engineering has organized many workshops and invited technical talks for the benefit to the students.
Many value added certificate courses have been organized from time to time to increase the job oppor-tunity of the students. The Mechanical Engineering Students Association is very active in conducting various programmes like seminars, guest lectures, workshops, hands on training programs etc., for the knowledge and skill development of the students.
The Department has received financial support for the students' project from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Bangalore.

Programs:
- Special program on Energy conservation - Urja Diwas was held in collaboration with Karnataka Renovable energy corporation, B’lore was held on Aug, 20, 2007. Prof. Suresh Bekal, Prof. M. S. Bhat, former Director of ISRO, Prof. K. M. Udupa, Bharathiya Vikas Trust, Udupi, Prof. Ashok Kundapur, Udupi were the resource persons.
- A special technical talk on Computational Fluid Dynamics by Prof. Chandrakanth Bekal was organized on September 20, 2007.
- One day workshop on Psycho Evaluation was ogranised for the students. Mr. Gangadhar Bellare, Director, Scope counseling Cenrer, Puttur was the resource person. More than 80 students participated in this program.
Staff / Students participation :
- Sudharshan Rao, Associate professor and Chandrakanth Bekal , lecturer in mechanical engineering, participated in the three days workshop on Train the Fresher for machine Drawing held at SJEC, Mysore from Sept 23- 25, 2007.
- Udayashankar P. Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, participated in three day workshop on Hydraulic and pneumatics, held at NMAMIT, Nitte from Aug 1- 03, 2008.
- H. Shyamprasad, lecturer in Mechanical engineering, participated in Workshop on Advances IC Engine , held at NMAMIT, Nitte, Aug 1-3, 2007.
- Krishna Kumar A Jere, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, participated in Workshop on Syllabus Review for the Engineering course conducted by VTU at GIT, Belgaum on October 15, 2007.
- Many students represented the college in various technical programs held at different engineering colleges in Karnataka state.
- Pradeep Damien and Bhaskar Kulkarni, students of Second year Mechanical Engineering has secured second prize in the state level technical paper presentation competition – Jnanasangam held at VCET, Puttur
- Mr. Ujwal and Mr. Bhaskar, students of Second year Mechanical Engineering, participated in the State level Paper presentation Competition held Canara Engineering College, Bantwal.
- Mr. Ashwin and Mr. Pradeep Damien, Mr. Pawan Kumar, students from Mechanical Engineering have participated in National level Technical paper Presentation Competition held at NMAMIT, Nitte.
- Industrial tour for the final year students was organized and they visited Mysore railway workshop, Mypol, JK tyres, TVS motors etc in Mysore industrial area.
- The Department has received financial aid from Karnataka State council for Science and Technology, Bangalore for the final year student’s projects. i.e Design and fabrication of Broom Stick making machine, Design and fabrication of soil mixing and filling machine.

- Design & Fabrication of water desalination by using solar parabolic collector .
