Workshops, invited talks by the subject experts and industrialists, industrial visits etc., are organized regularly to encourage the students to get appropriate knowledge in the relative fields.
The ACSIS- Association of Computer Science and Information Science is very active in conducting various technical activities to promote the academic interests among the students.The department has institutional membership of Computer Society of India (CSI).
The department is encouraging innovative activities among the students and publishing quarterly departmental news letter. Students have participated in various inter-collegiate technical students' seminars / competitions and won many prizes.

Achievements:

Prof. Usha Kiran and Mr. Mohan have attended two weeks faculty training program of Infosys Campus Connect program held at Infosys IT traning center, Mysore from Jan 21- Feb 1, 2008.

Akshatha P.S. Lecturer in Computer Science and Engineering and students –Vanishree and Swathi Bhat have participated as invited delegates for Two day Seminar On Women Empowerment in IT filed , held at Infosys campus, Bangalore from March 7- 8, 2008.

Students team have participated in National level Technical Paper presentation Competition, held at KVG college of Engineering. Ms. Poonam and Mr. Ramprasad won the consolation prize for their technical paper.

Prof. P.V. Bhat , professor of Computer Science Engineering has participated in International Conference on Wireless sensor network, held on December 14, 2007, at Vellur Institute of Technology, Vellur, Tamilnadu state. He presented his paper titled “Real time group association monitoring in Wireless Sensor Network”.

The Department has organized technical Talk on “ Processor Design from the Engineers perspective” by Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, Vice principal , NMAMIT, Nitte.
- The Department secured 85% result in Computer Science and 100% in information science and engineering in final year examinations 2006-2007.
Computer Centre : The institute has fully furnished state-of-the-art Computer Centre. The Computer Centre has more than 300 PCs with Latest hardware configuration and operating system. All computers are networked and connected to two servers. Operating system software like Linux, Wndows and other programming software, broadband internet connections are available to train students. Free internet facility is available for both staff and students at the computer centre. |
