A report on Inaugural function of Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association, and Exhibition and Competition of Mechanical prototypes, held on 23/09/2008
               
Exhibition of Mechanical prototypes was held on 23/09/2008, from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm, the function was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Principal, Dr.B.N.Shanthapriya and attended by Director, Prof.Ashok Kumar.T, Placement and training officer Dr.Sridhar Bhat, Mr.Sudharshan Rao, HOD Mechanical department, staff and students.

The competition was open to the Vth and VIIth semester Mechanical students and in all 23 teams actively participated. Various models ranging form cut section of an engine to the prototype models of various links were modeled by the students. The judges to the function were Professor P.R.Karanth, Correspondent, VCET, Puttur and Dr.Sridhar Bhat, Placement and training Officer, VCET, Puttur. The first place in Vth semester category was bagged by Mr.Prashanth D.S and group, for their model “Rotary Beam Engine”, and the second prize by Mr.Vineeth Shetty and group, for their model “Jigsaw Mechanism”. In VIIth semester category the first prize was won by Mr.Pradeep Damian and group for their model “Geneva Mechanism”, and the second prize by Mr. Suraj and group, for their model “Crank and Beam mechanism”. In total 11 models were exhibited by Vth semester students and 12 models from VIIth semester students.

Inaugural function of Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association 2008-09 was held on 23/09/2008, at 3:00pm and inaugurated by Mr.Krishna Kumar K, Quality Control Officer, CAMPCO chocolate factory, Puttur. The function was presided over by Principal Dr.B.N.Shanthapriya. Dr.Sridhar Bhat made his presence felt by attending the same. Prizes for distinction students were given out, and also for the winners of Quiz and Exhibition of Mechanical prototypes, were handed out by Dr.B.N.Shanthapriya. A Demand Draft of Rs.2060 -/- for the Bihar Relief fund collected from the Staff and Mechanical students was handed over to the Principal, Dr.B.N.Shanthapriya by MESA secretary Mr.ShriHarsha Hebbar. After the inaugural function, freshers welcome commenced.

A report on, seminar by, Dr.B.S.Samaga on “I.C.Engine”, given on 24/09/2008

Seminar on “I.C.Engines”, was given by Dr.B.S.Samaga, Dean Academic NMAMIT, Nitte. During the seminar, he explained the working of four-stroke S.I engine and four-stroke C.I engine, and in detail “M combustion chamber” which is a multi-purpose engine was also explained. The talk took place from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. Welcome was done by Mr.UdayShankar. The talk was also attended Mr.P.V.Bhat, Vice Principal, VCET, Puttur and by Dr.Sridhar Bhat, Placement and training officer. At the end of the seminar session effective interaction with the students took place.
